Tri-Power® • Combination of Imidacloprid, Metalaxyl and Flutriafol • Controls damping-off (Pythium irregular) and provides excellent efficacy against Rhizoctonia bare patch (Rhizoctania solani) in wheat and barley • Highly effective smut and bunt control in wheat, barley, oats and triticale • Protection against feeding damage caused by wheat aphid and corn aphid, protecting against the spread of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) New Products CruiserTM Opti • Protects cereals and canola against key insect pests during establishment: – Oat/Wheat, Corn, Green Peach and Grey Cabbage Aphids (control) – Red Legged Earth Mite (suppression) – Lucerne Flea (suppression) • Two modes of action for control of SP-resistant strains • Improves emergence, crop establishment and yield potential • Excellent systemic uptake and translocation • Excellent crop safety • Compatible with other seed treatments EverGol Prime® • Powerful new group 7 SDHI active ingredient penflufen • Effective disease control resulting in stronger, fitter plants with improved biomass • Effective disease control resulting in improved root mass and reduced spear-tipping • Superior activity against Rhizoctonia root rot# • Control of smut and bunt diseases* • Maximise your yield potential • Variable use rate # Suppression of Rhizoctonia root rot. *Suppression of soil-borne flag smut. VibranceTM • Controls smuts and bunts whilst protecting against Rhizoctonia and Pythium • Soft on seed which in turn enables the best start to your crop • Provides consistently higher yields and returns on investment CRT Info ActIve CRT Info ActIve smuts and bunts as well as the suppression of Rhizoctonia for wheat and barley. Bayer CropScience research has shown that Rhizoctonia is reduced by up to 66% in barley and 73% in wheat crops at the high rate of 80mL/100kg of seed. This has also resulted in increased biomass. Vibrance is a combination of three different actives including metalaxyl-m, difenconazole and sedaxane targeting Pythium (damping off). It is also used for controlling the range of smuts and bunts in wheat, barley, oats and triticale when used at 180mL/100kg of seed. Using Vibrance at the higher rate of 360mL/ha also provides suppression of Rhizoctonia. Extensive testing of Vibrance compared to Dividend®, which is also from Syngenta, has shown that Vibrance at the higher rate of 360mL/100kg of seed provided improved control of Rhizoctonia compared to the high rate of Dividend. In another Syngenta trial, where paired plots of treated seed were compared to bare seed, there was an increase in yield of more than 6% for both wheat and barley. Tri-Power is a mix of three actives including imidacloprid for aphid control, together with metalaxyl and flutriafol for disease management including smuts, bunts and Pythium and the suppression of Rhizoctonia. Tri-Power is used at 400mL/100kg of seed and has a registration for use with wheat, barley, triticale and oats. One of the benefits of Tri-Power is that it can be used either straight from the drum or diluted with 200mL/100kg of seed for a total volume, eg 600ml/100kg of seed. A major benefit of using Tri-Power is the reduced risk of barley yellow dwarf disease from aphids through the activity of imidacloprid. In addition to the new seed treatments already outlined covering cereal diseases, Syngenta is releasing CruiserTM Opti into the cereal and canola market for the control of aphids and the suppression of Red Legged Earth Mite and Lucerne Flea. CruiserTM Opti contains the actives thiamethoxam (a neonicotinoid) and lambda-cyhalothrin (SP). Both actives will affect insect pests by either being translocated through the plant or drawn up to the surface with the growth of the hypercotyls and coleoptiles providing effective coverage of the plant to stop attack from pests. Cruiser Opti has shown increases of more than 4% in yield compared to bare seed in Syngenta trials in wheat. Whether you’re looking for alternative seed treatments or considering any of the new products outlined in this article it’s essential you discuss your requirements with your local CRT agronomist and plan the best approach to ensure your crops make the most of a good start in 2013. 31981_v2_CRT Tech Update Autumn 2013.indd 3 31/01/13 11:18 AM
